Join us for an informative and timely Green Movie Night exploring new—and ancient—approaches to living with wildfire.

We’ll begin with a screening of California: Fighting Fire with Fire, a thought-provoking film that explores the shift from total wildfire suppression toward the use of “good fire” as an important tool for protecting forests and communities. The film also highlights Indigenous perspectives and ancestral practices of working with fire to care for the land.

We’ll also share a brief film from the National Fire Protection Association, “Your Home Can Survive A Wildfire,” focused on practical steps homeowners can take to reduce wildfire risk and better protect their homes and property.

Following the films, Zoë Fung, Wildfire Conservation Coordinator with the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District, and Michelle Rinehart from the CC County Fire Protection District will help facilitate a conversation about wildfire preparedness, home hardening, and creating more fire-resilient landscapes.

Come learn practical ways we can care for our homes, our communities, and the Earth while becoming better prepared for wildfire.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Location: Unity of Walnut Creek – Community Room

Admission & Registration: This event is free and open to everyone. A freewill love offering of $20 is suggested and gratefully appreciated, but no one will be turned away.
