We’re thrilled to welcome Elaine Aron, Ph.D., for a Talk and Q&A Session on December 7th!

Her talk will be based on her new book, Spirituality Through a Highly Sensitive Lens:  An Objective Look at Meditation Methods and Enlightenment.

Dr. Aron wrote the first book on high sensitivity, The Highly Sensitive Person (and six more on HSPs) in the 1990s, when no one knew about the trait, although 30% of people had it. She says she wrote this book for the same reason–although many people meditate or have at least tried it, they know very little about meditation or its real purpose, a state of deep equanimity, twenty-four hours a day, every day of your life.

Like her other books, this one is thoroughly researched.  Writing it took five years!  This is her first public talk about the book, which comes out March 31, 2026.

This is for everyone, not just HSPs, although Elaine addresses HSPs in every chapter of her book and will of course talk about HSPs during this talk.  After the talk there will be plenty of time for questions.

Shari Dyer, one Unity’s beloved videographers, will be taping the talk. Elaine and Shari are good friends and look forward to seeing you December 7th.  Come experience an enlightening afternoon!

When: Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Where: Unity of Walnut Creek Sanctuary

Cost: $20

About Dr. Elain Aron:

Dr. Aron earned her M.A. from York University in Toronto in clinical psychology and her Ph.D. at Pacifica Graduate Institute in clinical depth psychology as well as interning at the C. G. Jung Institute in San Francisco. Besides beginning the study of the innate temperament trait of high sensitivity in 1991, she, along with her husband Dr. Arthur Aron, are two of the leading scientists studying the psychology of love and close relationships. They are also pioneers in studying both sensitivity and love using functional magnetic resonance imaging.

About Dr. Aron’s New Book:

Just as Elaine Aron brought to light the trait of high sensitivity, which was always there but rarely discussed, in her new book, Spirituality Through a Highly Sensitive Lens, she again does what has not been done before by providing an objective survey of all forms of meditation and a careful look at their traditional goal of enlightenment.
